FlexLawn Artificial Grass Installation Guide
A simple, professional step-by-step guide to installing FlexLawn turf properly.
Planning Before You Order
- Sketch the installation area before ordering turf.
- Plan around roll widths to minimize seams and waste.
- Montana & Kentucky: 7.5’ and 15’ wide rolls.
- Augusta: 15’ wide rolls.
- Roll length: 100’.
Important: Always keep the grass blades running in the same direction when joining sections to avoid color variation.
1) Base Preparation
- Remove all existing sod and debris.
- Cap sprinkler heads if present.
- Add 3–4” crushed granite or crushed stone aggregate (¼ minus).
- Add 1” stone dust on top.
- Rake and level the surface carefully.
- Compact thoroughly using a compactor or roller.
- Lightly spray with water and compact again.
A slight slope is recommended for proper drainage. Any uneven areas will show through the finished turf.
2) Lay & Secure Turf
- Install a weed barrier over the compacted base.
- Roll out turf and trim from the back side with a sharp knife.
- Anchor perimeter with nails every 6” placed 1–2” from the edge.
- Pull turf tight while fastening.
All turf sections must face the same direction for consistent appearance.
3) Seaming
- Use seaming tape and turf adhesive.
- Dry-fit pieces before applying glue.
- Leave approximately 1/4” gap between sections.
- Apply adhesive generously to tape.
- Bring edges together carefully without trapping fibers.
- Secure seam every 6” in a staggered pattern.
- Allow 24–48 hours to cure.
Recommended adhesive temperature: 45°F or higher. Plan approximately one tube per 15–20 linear feet.
4) Finishing
- Use a rake or power broom to lift and fluff turf fibers.
- Inspect seams and edges for final adjustments.
